Originally, I was hired to shoot this footage for a completely different project in 2009. However, I had always known it had another story in it... One of friendship, loss and love. In the story I wanted to tell, a little girl waits outside her house to wave goodbye to her best friends, who is moving away. After their farewells, the little boy lingers a few moments longer before he departs with his family, leaving his best friend behind him.
Days pass, and the little girl longs for her friend, and is deeply saddened by his loss. However, mom gently guides her through her grief, by giving her unconditional love, and being the best friend she'll ever know.
It wasn't until I met cellist, Martin Tillman, and heard his track SPIRIT, that I knew this footage finally had found the means to its expression. Instantly, I knew the two were a perfect fit.
It may have taken years to put together the completed project, but it to me, it was completely worth the wait, and is by far my most cherished and favorite piece that I've ever done.
With much gratitude to Martin for his stunning music that made this story come to life...
